The 2 Types of Marketers

There are two ways in which a marketer can help you. A marketer can either tell you what to do or they can help you think through what to do. 

A marketer who tells you what to do is often sharing from previous experiences and knowledge. This type of marketer is considered a marketing consultant.

A marketer who helps you think through what to do often pushes you based on a validation process they have experienced that works well. This type of marketer is considered a marketing coach.

The Difference Between Marketing Consultants and Marketing Coaches

While both a marketing consultant and a marketing coach have their strengths and weaknesses, the decision of which type of marketer you should hire should be based on your desired end goal.

A marketing consultant will assess your specific problem and provide you with expert advice to solve the problem.

If you have a very specific problem that you want solved quickly without much involvement, a marketing consultant will be the best option for you.

A marketing coach will guide you through a series of problems and provide you with feedback and suggestions.

If you want to be involved in your marketing, better under the why behind the way marketing works, have accountability and a consistent partnership with a marketer, a marketing coach will be the best option for you.
